I have been working on medical imaging, with emphasis on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and cardiovascular applications, over the past 15 years in both academia and industry. After receiving the Master and PhD degrees from Johns Hopkins University (joint program between the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of Radiology), I joined the University of Florida as an Assistant Professor in Radiology, where during that 5-year period I received both institutional and external research funding grants, oversaw clinical image quality, and fostered collaboration with industry. Afterwards, I joined Mayo Clinic and then the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where I worked on different medical imaging projects, before joining GE Healthcare as the Manager of MRI Research & Development (a senior professional band position) based in the company headquarter in Wisconsin, USA. In my role with GE Healthcare, I set the MRI development roadmap based on recent imaging trends and customer needs, lead a global team working on research and development activities, supported the translation of prototypes into product solutions through working with different GE cross-functional teams, worked with external partners on designing and supporting research studies to meet strategic aims, fostered relationships with third parties and start-up companies, and represented GE in different scientific meetings and tradeshows.
