Biography: Since 1989 when I completed my Ph.D. at the Shanghai Institute of Physiology, Chinese Academy of Science, I have been studying auditory neuroscience in the United States of America. I have published more than 80 peer reviewed papers on (1) the mechanisms of the cochlear injury by intense noise, ototoxic agents, and/or ageing and its protection, and (2) plastic changes in the central auditory pathway including classical and non-classical auditory centers.
Research Interest: At the present, I am interested in studying the mechanisms underlying the cochlear injury after prolonged low-level noise exposure (at the environmental noise level) and plasticity in the central auditory pathway, by using electrophysiological recording, immunohistological staining, and molecular biology.
