Biography: Professor Dong-iIk Kim, male, vascular surgeon, graduated Hanyang Medical School in 1984. In 1992 he finished his residency as chief resident at the department of general surgery in Hanyang University Medical Center. From 1992 to 1994 he worked at the department of vascular surgery in Osaka University Medical Center(Japan) as a clinical & research fellow. In 1995 he finished his Ph.D at Hanyang University Graduate School(Korea). From 1994 he started to work at the Samsung Medical Center and is currently working at this institute and is also a professor of Sungkyunkwan Medical School(Korea). In 2002 he worked as a visiting professor at Oregone Health Science university in USA. He is currently the Editor-in –Chief of Internal Journal of Stem Cell(2008- present), the President of Asian Venous Forum (2012-2015), Congress President of Seoul UIP 2015, President of Korean Society for Diabetic Foot(2013 – 2017), President of Korean Society for Phlebology, the National Delegate of the Korean Society of Phlebology, and he is also a member of the executive board of the Korean Society for Vascular Surgery. He also serve as the editorial board for World Journal of Surgical Procedures, Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery, International Journal of Angiology, Annals of Vascular Diseases, International Journal of Tissue Regeneration, Reviews in Vascular Medicine, World Journal of Hypertension, J Korean Medical Science, SM Vascular Medicine, Journal of Vascular Diagnostics and Journal of Lymphology and Oncology. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, International College of Angiology, European Society for Vascular Surgery, International Union of Angiology, International Society of Lymphology, International Society for the Study of Vascular Anomalies, Society of Vascular Technology and the Asian Vascular Society. He is also fellow of American College of Surgeons and International College of Angiology.
In recent years he has been researching therapeutic angiogenesis using stem cells, tissue engineering of vascular prosthetic graft, pathogenesis of intimal hyperplasia, pathogenesis of Buerger's disease, and pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. He published about 130 international article and 110 domestic articles.  He also published 6 medical books as a Chief Editor.
