Dr. Zheng Chen is a Professor of Physiology at Northeast Normal University since 2015. Dr. Chen obtained his Ph.D. in 2009 from the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese academy of Science. During his graduate training, he investigated how FKBP12.6 affects heart failure and insulin secretion by using FKBP12.6 knockout mice model. From 2009 to 2014, he did his postdoctoral training in Dr. Liangyou Rui laboratory in the Department of Molecular and Integrative Physiology of Michigan University. He investigated the mechanisms of adapter
proteins (SH2B1, TRAF2, TRAF3) in islet β cell function and hepatic glucose metabolism. The current research in his laboratory is to explore the roles of non-canonical NF-κB signal and lncRNA in islet cell physiology and hepatic glucose metabolism.
My research interest is to reveal the molecular mechanisms of diabetes. We are trying to answer two questions in my laboratory: 1) How long non-coding RNA regulates glucose and lipid metabolism in the liver; 2) How NIK/p52 signaling regulates islet β/α cell function.
