Zaiton Sapak works as a senior lecturer at the Universiti Teknologi MARA. She obtained her PhD in crop disease modelling and forecasting from the University of Queensland, Australia in 2012.
Main interests: Plant Pathology, Crop Disease Modelling and Forecasting with the following specific research skills; 1. Biological control of crop disease, e.g. pineapple diseases (fruitlet core rot, heart rot and butt rot), oil palm disease (Ganoderma basal stem rot), rice diseases (bacterial leaf blight), Banana (wilt disease) and cucurbit disease (powdery mildew). 2. Formulation of biological control agents for disease management, e.g. Bacillus cereus for bacterial leaf blight disease of rice, Trichoderma sp for pineapple diseases. 3. Crop disease modelling and forecasting: Development of POMICS, a simulation disease model for managing powdery mildew of cucurbits under Queensland environmental conditions.
