Kathryn Matney Lloyd was born and raised in Bozeman, Montana. After high school she attended Bryn Mawr College, where she majored in both Italian and Biology with a thesis in Biochemistry. Following her college graduation she spent two years away from school, working for one year at an immune deficiency clinic in downtown Philadelphia and one year for her father’s environmental engineering business on wind energy projects. She attended the University of Colorado School Of Medicine from 2008-2012, where she found herself drawn to pathology as a discipline in which she could pursue a deeper understanding of human disease. Following her graduation from medical school she completed a residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, also at the University of Colorado. During residency she was actively involved with the College of American Pathology as a junior member of the Chemistry Resource Committee, and following graduation and receipt of her board certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology she was again appointed to the committee for a sixyear term. She currently works at the University of Colorado Hospital as a Clinical Instructor where her primary focus is in laboratory stewardship and process improvement. She also enjoys teaching residents and medical students, both on their clinical rotations as well as in the classroom.
